ABOUT US

Our Story

The Melajoom Foundation was born from a family-driven initiative to uplift lives and provide opportunities for underserved communities in Nigeria. It began over 30 years ago, when Pa H. Omotosho Adetula, the elder brother of our founder, Mr. Jimi Adetula, envisioned a way to give back to society and support the extended Adetula family. Their commitment to funding children’s education laid the groundwork for what would later become the Melajoom Foundation.

In June 2010, this vision became a reality when the foundation was officially registered and launched in Owo, Nigeria, as a privately funded, non-governmental, and non-profit organization. The name MELAJOOM is a symbol of family unity, derived from the names of the Adetula family members. These efforts gradually evolved into a formally structured non-profit organization focused solely on educational support, empowering students and building a pathway to lasting impact through learning.

Our Mission

At the Melajoom Foundation, our mission is to expand access to quality education for underserved students, especially those from Owo and its surrounding communities.

We are committed to removing barriers, nurturing talent, and empowering learners with the support they need to thrive.

Our Vision

To see a future where no child is denied the opportunity to learn because of financial hardship or limited access.

We envision a society where education unlocks potential, inspires service, and builds a stronger Nigeria, one student at a time.

Our work is built on three strategic pillars within education:

  • Access: We offer financial scholarships to support students from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing tertiary education.

  • Support: Through mentorship and academic guidance, we help students stay motivated, focused, and equipped for long-term success.

  • Community Engagement: We partner with local communities to identify educational needs and offer support where it matters most.

OUR Impact

For over 30 years, we’ve seen how education can transform not only individuals but also entire families and communities.
From the first student sponsored to hundreds of lives encouraged through our programs, the Melajoom Foundation remains committed to helping the next generation dream, achieve, and give back.
