Melajoom Foundation Scholarship Application

At the Melajoom Foundation, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and communities. Rooted in our commitment to empowering the people of Owo and its surrounding areas, the Foundation’s scholarship program was established to support bright, dedicated students who face financial challenges in pursuing higher education.

Our goal is simple: to remove barriers and open doors for students who have the ambition and potential to thrive. By investing in the academic success of our youth, we are investing in the future of our communities – one student at a time.

The scholarship program is open to students currently enrolled in tertiary institutions such as universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. If you meet the eligibility criteria outlined below, we encourage you to submit your application and take one step closer to achieving your academic and career aspirations.

Tertiary Scholarship — Eligibility & Requirements

The Melajoom Foundation Tertiary Scholarship is open to eligible students currently enrolled in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Please read the eligibility criteria carefully before proceeding to the application form.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, you must meet all of the following conditions:

  • You must be an indigene of Owo Local Government Area. A valid Certificate of Local Government of Origin is required.
  • You must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited university, polytechnic, or college of education. Part-time students are not eligible.
  • You must be studying at an undergraduate level. Postgraduate and Master’s students are not eligible.
  • You must be a Fresher (first-year student) or a Continuing Student. Final year students are eligible to apply.
  • Freshers must have a minimum JAMB score of 250.
  • Continuing Students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
  • Applicants currently receiving another scholarship or bursary may apply but are required to disclose this on the application form.

Scholarship Award

  • University students: up to ₦250,000
  • Polytechnic and College of Education students: up to ₦125,000

Awards are made directly to the successful applicant’s designated bank account.

Required Documents — Freshers

  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • JAMB Result Slip
  • Certificate of Local Government of Origin (original or certified true copy)
  • Reference Letter from Owo LGA Office (must be dated within the last 24 months)
  • Academic Goals Essay (PDF, DOC, or DOCX)

Required Documents — Continuing Students

  • Current Student ID Card issued by your institution
  • Latest Academic Transcript
  • Latest Academic Result
  • Certificate of Local Government of Origin (original or certified true copy)
  • Reference Letter from Owo LGA Office (must be dated within the last 24 months)
  • Academic Goals Essay (PDF, DOC, or DOCX)

Academic Goals Essay

All applicants are required to submit a written Academic Goals Essay as part of their application. The prompt and word limit differ by academic level:

100 Level applicants:
Why did you choose your specific course of study, and how do you envision using this degree to impact your community or field after graduation? Maximum 200 words.

200 Level and above:
Reflecting on your time at university so far, what has been your most significant academic achievement or challenge, and how have you maintained your academic performance? Maximum 300 words.

Essays must be original. Plagiarism, AI-generated content, or mismatched information will result in immediate disqualification.

Important Notes

  • Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
  • Submitting false or misleading information will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All documents must be uploaded at the time of submission. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • You cannot save and return to a partially completed form. Please ensure all documents are ready before you begin.
