The Melajoom Foundation is celebrating a proud milestone. Our Founder, Mr. Akinloye Folajimi Adetula, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Achievers University at its 15th convocation ceremony on December 13, 2025. The honour recognises his years of work in education, youth empowerment, and scholarship advancement.
The ceremony took place at the Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Auditorium at Achievers University in Owo, and drew a full house of academics, traditional rulers, government officials, students, family, and friends who came to honour a man whose commitment to education has changed lives across the community.
Recognising a Lifetime of Impact
The honorary doctorate reflects Mr. Adetula’s dedication to widening access to quality education through the Melajoom Foundation. Over the years, the Foundation has supported countless young people with scholarships and educational opportunities, helping them pursue their academic goals and grow into contributors to their communities.
A Message on Purpose and Service
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Adetula thanked Achievers University for the honour and dedicated it to everyone whose life the Foundation has touched, from partners and volunteers to beneficiaries and supporters who have stood behind its mission over the years.
He described education as one of life’s greatest equalisers, shaping not just what people know but who they become, and encouraged the graduates in the audience to see their education as a tool for growth, leadership, and change.
He also had a direct message for the fresh graduates: their talents aren’t just for them. True fulfilment, he said, comes from using your abilities to improve the lives of people around you. “Your talent is not just for you; it is for others,” he told them, urging everyone present to live with purpose and put that purpose to work in service of others.
On the question of what success really means, he was equally direct. Wealth isn’t measured by what you accumulate, but by the difference you make in other people’s lives. Possessions mean little if they don’t improve someone else’s circumstances, a point that speaks directly to the Foundation’s own philosophy of service above self.
He also spoke about generosity, noting that giving isn’t about how much you have but about intention. Life takes on deeper meaning, he said, when people choose to invest in the wellbeing and success of others.
Mr. Adetula closed with a reflection that captured the spirit of the day: education gives you knowledge, individuality gives you purpose, and generosity gives that purpose lasting meaning. No one achieves anything great alone, and the legacies that last are the ones built on lifting others up.
